Why do I over-prepare for a 20-minute pharmacy run like I'm packing for a week?
I needed toothpaste and a prescription refill. That's a 20-minute walk. I still packed a charger, a snack, a backup payment card, and stood in the hallway for five minutes going through a mental list like I was leaving overnight. At the pharmacy I knew where the door was the whole time. I still mapped exits. I still got home and felt like I'd run a long errand even though the bag was two items. I know it's extra. I also know if I leave without the little kit I feel exposed, which is embarrassing to admit about a drugstore. Is this just how some of us do errands now? Did anyone scale it back without feeling like they were being reckless? I don't need a big system. I need to buy toothpaste without treating it like a project.

I still take the backup card. I did drop the charger though. That was my first cut. Felt weird for a week, then it was just a lighter pocket.

Hallway inventory is so real. I do it with my keys in my hand like I'm about to forget how doors work. The walk is 15 minutes and I still pack a granola bar.

Did the pharmacy have that echoey wait, or was it busy? Busy is easier for me. Quiet stores make me overpack more, I swear.

I keep the snack and skip the charger unless I'm going across town. Not brave. Just tired of the pouch. Toothpaste still feels like a mission some days and I go anyway.
