I spend whole mornings bracing for a conversation that isn't even happening. How do you stop?
I spent from 7:15 to 9:40 this morning rehearsing a conversation with my landlord about a repair. I had lines. I had a backup tone. I checked the building app twice. He never messaged. There's no meeting. I invented the whole thing because a pipe made a noise and my brain wrote a trial. By the time I sat down at my laptop I was already tired, like I'd had the fight. I hadn't. How do you stop bracing for a talk that isn't on the calendar? I can tell myself it's not happening and my shoulders don't believe me. Do you write it down and close the note, or do you just have to wait until the fake appointment expires?

I write the fake conversation in my notes app titled "not scheduled" and then I close it. Seeing the title helps more than the words. Landlord stuff is especially good at inventing trials.

Pipe noise would get me too. I sent myself an email once that said "no one asked you to prepare a case." Found it at lunch. Felt like a person interrupting me, which I needed.

Does the bracing stop if you actually send a normal message ("pipe made a noise, not urgent")? Sometimes booking the real two-line email kills the fake three-hour rehearsal for me.
