Is it weird that I miss feeling sad and now I just feel blank all the time?
I used to cry in the car after work, same parking garage, same song on repeat, fluorescent lights on the windshield. I tried it last Tuesday. Nothing came. Just the concrete and the click of people locking their doors. I sat there for the length of the song like I was waiting for a bus that does not run anymore. I know this should sound like an upgrade. Sad at least had a shape. Blank is like someone turned the contrast down on the whole day. I even pressed on the bruise a little, thought about a fight from years ago that used to get me, and it was just information. I miss the sad, which feels like a stupid thing to say out loud. Is this something other people have hit, the part where even the bad feelings go thin?

I miss the crying too. At least crying ended. Blank just sits there through dinner.

Not a stupid thing to say. I told my brother I missed being sad and he thought I was joking. I was not.

Did the song used to work like a key? I retired mine because it started feeling like a prank. I still drive the long way sometimes out of habit.
