Why does anxiety always get worse at night?
I can coast through work and errands and feel almost normal. Then the house goes quiet around 10 or 11 and my brain turns into a courtroom. Every small thing from the day gets a replay. My chest gets tight. My thoughts speed up. Nothing new happened — it is just night. I have tried earlier bedtimes, podcasts, leaving a light on. Some nights help a little. Most nights it still hits the second I stop moving. Does anyone else feel like anxiety waits until you finally sit still?

because the distractions stop. my brain saves everything for 11pm.

same. I can be fine all day then the second I lie down my chest gets tight.

I hate that I do this. I replay every awkward thing I said since 2014.

@leo_petrov the 2014 thing is too real. I thought I was the only one with old highlight reels.

the quiet is the worst part for me. I started leaving a fan on. not even for noise. just so it is not so silent.

@rosa_alvarez yes the fan thing. I use rain sounds. my brain needs something to hold onto.
