About AskDr

AskDr is a free library of calculators and unit converters for laboratory results. Our goal is simple: help you understand the numbers on your blood test report so you can have a better conversation with your doctor.

Who we are

AskDr is written and maintained by the AskDr Editorial Team, a small team of health writers and developers. We are not a medical practice and we do not provide individual medical advice. Every page is built from published, peer-reviewed formulas and official reference sources, which are cited at the bottom of each page.

What we publish

• Calculators using published clinical equations – for example CKD-EPI 2021 eGFR, the ADAG A1C-to-average-glucose equation, Cockcroft-Gault, the NIH (Sampson) LDL equation and FIB-4.
• Unit converters between US conventional units (mg/dL, ng/mL) and SI units (mmol/L, nmol/L) based on exact molar masses.
• Plain-language explanations of what results mean, with typical reference ranges and their sources.

How we check accuracy

Each formula is implemented once in code and automatically tested against reference values from the original publications and official calculators before every release. Read our editorial policy for details.
