AskDr Editorial Team
Every calculator, converter and guide on AskDr is written, checked and maintained by the AskDr Editorial Team – a small team of health writers and software developers who specialise in laboratory medicine content.
What the team does
Research and writing
Each guide starts from primary sources: the original publication of a formula, current clinical guidelines (ADA, KDIGO, ESC/EAS, AASLD, EASL, NICE, Endocrine Society) and government health resources such as MedlinePlus and the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements.
Formula implementation
Equations are implemented once in shared, tested code. Worked examples quoted in the articles are generated from the same code and checked against the source publications.
Source verification
Every PubMed reference is checked against the PubMed record (title, authors, journal and year), and every external link is checked before publication. References that cannot be verified are removed.
Review and updates
Pages carry a “last reviewed” date. Content is re-checked when guidelines change and whenever a reader reports a possible error.
Our standards
- Published methods only. We do not invent scores or adjust published equations.
- Both unit systems. Results and thresholds are shown in US conventional and SI units wherever they apply.
- Clear limits. Every guide explains when a formula is unreliable and when to see a doctor.
- Independence. Advertising is clearly labelled and has no influence on content. We do not accept payment for coverage.
- No personal data. Calculator inputs stay in your browser.
Medical review
AskDr content is educational and is checked against the cited clinical guidelines and primary literature. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified health professional who knows your history. See our medical disclaimer and editorial policy for details of how content is produced, reviewed and corrected.
Corrections and contact
If you spot an error, please contact us with the page address and a source. Confirmed corrections are published promptly and the review date is updated. You can also email askdr.contact@gmail.com.
