Not medical advice
AskDr content is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified health professional. Do not start, stop or change any treatment or medicine dose based on a result from this website.
Limitations of formulas
Every equation on AskDr is a published method with known limitations. Many have not been validated in children, in pregnancy, during acute illness, at extremes of age or body size, or in specific conditions. Each guide describes the main limitations, but it cannot account for your individual circumstances.
Reference ranges
Reference ranges and thresholds shown on AskDr are typical values from cited sources. Laboratories set their own ranges based on their methods and populations. Always use the range printed on your own report and ask your clinician how it applies to you.
No doctor–patient relationship
Using AskDr, or contacting us, does not create a doctor–patient or any other professional relationship. We cannot answer questions about personal test results.
Emergencies
If you think you may have a medical emergency – for example chest pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, a very high or very low blood sugar with symptoms, or a suspected poisoning – call your local emergency number immediately.
