Why do I feel drained after hanging out with people?
I like my friends. I want to see them. Then I come home and feel like I ran a marathon. Not sad exactly — just empty and overstimulated. I spent the whole time monitoring myself. Smiling at the right time. Laughing when I should. Wondering if I talked too much or not enough. By the time I get home I need silence and a dark room. Is this social anxiety or am I just introverted?

because you were performing. smiling. nodding. watching your own face. that is exhausting.

I need a full day to recover from a two hour lunch. people think I am dramatic.

@ben_okonkwo not dramatic. I call it social debt. I pay for it later.

for me it is the noise. too much noise and I am done. I leave early now and no one cares as much as I think.

@maya_patel yes. learning to leave early changed my life. I used to stay until I was shaking.

I love my friends but I have to schedule alone time after. otherwise I am useless.
