Why does looking in the mirror feel like I'm arguing with my own face?
I went to brush my teeth this morning and ended up standing there picking. Hair, skin, the way my jacket sat on my shoulders. It wasn't even a bad lighting day. I just started a running commentary: that photo from Saturday was a fluke, this is the real version, don't post anything, cancel the thing on Thursday if you can still see that. I was late leaving the house by twelve minutes because I couldn't "win" the argument. At work I avoid the bathroom mirror if I can. At home I use my phone camera at an angle I already know. I know how this sounds. I still do it. Has anyone gotten to a point where the mirror is just a mirror, or do you just learn to walk away faster?

I set a two-song limit in the bathroom. When the second song ends I have to leave even if I hate what I see.

The "Saturday photo was a fluke" line hit me. I do that with every decent picture.

Do you argue more on days you have to be seen, or is it every morning?
