Why do compliments make me uncomfortable rather than good?
I can list what I've done and still feel like I'm getting away with something. I don't even have a clean name for it. I just know it keeps running the day. I thought confidence was a feeling I had to wait for. Still waiting. I figured if anyone would get it, it would be people here. I don't need a perfect answer. Even a small thing that made the next day easier would help.

This is a sign that your self-concept needs updating more than your circumstances do.

That last line landed. I'm going to sit with it.

Because you don't believe them. You've internalized a self-image that the compliment contradicts.

Did you figure that out on your own or with someone helping you?

Compliments bounced off until I had even one piece of evidence I respected in myself.

Yeah. The body gets there before the story does.
