How do I stop shrinking in photos even when I like how I look that day?
We took a group photo after a birthday lunch. I liked my shirt. My hair was cooperating. Then I saw myself in the preview, half a step back, chin slightly down, making myself a smaller object on the end. Someone said squeeze in and I said sorry and squeezed in and still looked like I was trying not to exist. I posted it anyway and then cropped myself out of the one I sent my mom. I was not having a bad body day. I was having a 'do not take up the pixel' day. How do you stand in a photo like you were invited, which you were?

I put my feet where I want them before anyone counts to three. If I wait, I drift to the edge on autopilot.

I asked a friend to check I was not half out of frame. Felt needy. The photo looked like I belonged, which was the point.

Do you crop yourself out of family photos too, or mostly work and friend ones?

I keep one photo where I did not shrink, on purpose, in a locked album. Proof for the days I swear I never look like a person.
