Why do personality tests feel true until I take a different one next week?
Last Tuesday on the couch I took one of those four-letter tests. I read the description and felt seen in a slightly embarrassing way, like someone had been in my group chats. INFJ or whatever it spat out. I even sent a screenshot to my sister. Thursday at lunch I did an Enneagram quiz someone posted. That one said I was a helper who hates asking for help. Also felt dead-on. Saturday I tried a Big Five thing. High in conscientiousness, medium in extraversion. Also true, apparently. By Sunday I didn't know which label to walk around with. They all fit if I squint. They also all feel like horoscopes that got a marketing budget. I still take the next one because for ten minutes I like having a name for why I go quiet at parties and loud in a one-on-one. Do you keep a result, or do you treat these like weather reports? I want language. I don't want to rebuild my personality every time a website gives me a new letter.

I have three results saved in my camera roll and they argue with each other. I still open them when I'm bored.

I stopped sending screenshots. My sister started using the letters as a punchline at dinner.

Which part felt most true, the quiet-at-parties thing or the helper thing? Those don't even sound like the same person.

I treat them like playlists. Fun for a week. I don't let them pick my job.
