How do you actually pick sleep over one more episode when your brain wants both?
It is 12:19. I have work at 8. The episode ends on a conversation in a doorway and the next one starts automatically while I am still holding the remote just to see the title. I know the deal. I have known it since the second episode. My eyes are dry. The bed is actually comfortable for once. And still there is this pull like leaving the room would waste a night that was finally easy. I do not even love the show that much. It is the not-stopping. If I pause, I have to notice the day is over and tomorrow starts. One more episode postpones that by forty-two minutes. Have you found a stop rule that survives the autoplay? I will try almost anything except be more disciplined, because that version of me is not the one holding the remote.

I turned off autoplay. That was the whole trick. The title screen is a decision point. Doorway conversations are not.

I set a last-episode alarm for 11:40. When it goes off I am allowed to finish the one that is playing, not start the next. Bargain I can keep.

You named it — it is the not-stopping, not the show. That helped me. I pause on a boring bit, not a doorway.

Do you sleep if you stop, or do you lie there and want the noise back? I had to put the radio on low so the room was not empty.
