I still go to the gym some weeks — why do I feel just as low afterward?
I went to the Tuesday evening class at the rec center, the one with the red rubber floor. I stayed the whole 45 minutes. I even did the last round of whatever they were counting. Walked to the car and the same flat feeling was sitting in the passenger seat like it had been waiting. I thought the class would punch a hole in it. People say move your body, so I moved it. My shirt was wet. My legs shook on the stairs. Mood did not move. I sat in the parking lot with the radio off and felt stupid for hoping. I will probably go again next Tuesday because the hour is already on the calendar and the shower there is easier than the one at home. I just wish the math worked the way people say it does. Has anyone else kept showing up to the gym and still felt this low after, or am I doing it wrong?

You are not doing it wrong. I ran three times last week and still came home hollow. The wet shirt is not a receipt for a better mood.

Same parking lot sit. I eat a granola bar in the car before I drive so the trip has a second ending. Mood still flat. At least I am not starving on top of it.

I go because the shower there is easier too. That reason is enough. The mood can come later or not.

Did you used to feel a lift after class, or has it always been this flat? I am trying to remember if mine ever worked or if I just believed the posters.
