Has anyone else put a load of laundry in and then left it wet for three days?
There is a wet load in the machine in the basement of my building. I put it in Sunday night because I had one pair of work pants left. It is Wednesday. I walked past the basement door twice yesterday with my keys in my hand and then went back upstairs. I know it is going to smell. I know I will have to rewash it. That knowledge is sitting on the counter next to my keys and it still did not make me go down there. I am not even avoiding a person. I am avoiding a metal drum of my own socks. I keep thinking I will do it after I feel a click of motivation. The click does not come and now I am rationing underwear. Please tell me this is not just me being a disaster.

Mine sat from Thursday to Sunday once. I rewashed it at 10pm in gym shorts like a raccoon. Still counted as doing it.

I set a 20-minute timer and tell myself I only have to move it to the dryer. Not fold. Not put away. Just move.

Do you also avoid the basement because of the smell, or is it the stairs plus the task as a pile?

I keep a spare work shirt at the office for exactly this. Not proud. Means the wet load can wait one more day without a crisis.
