Why does my heart race when I lie down to sleep?
Daytime I feel almost normal. I get into bed, turn off the lamp, and within a minute my heart is pounding like I just ran upstairs. I start listening to it which makes it worse. I have had my heart checked. Doctors say it is fine. It still feels terrifying at 11pm when the house is quiet. I have tried breathing apps and going to bed later. Same pattern. Anyone else only get this when they lie down?

your body finally slows down and all the stuff you ignored shows up. that is what my therapist said.

@nora_klein that makes sense but it still sucks. I hate that I fear my own bed.

I put a hand on my chest and breathe slow. 4 in. 6 out. it sounds dumb but it works for me.

caffeine after 2pm does this to me. I switched to decaf and it helped a lot.
