Why do I wake up anxious every morning?
Before my eyes are even open my chest is tight and my thoughts are already running. I have not checked my phone yet. I have not remembered what day it is. I am just awake and scared. Mornings used to feel neutral. Now they feel like starting a race I did not sign up for. Coffee makes it worse on an empty stomach. Lying there makes it worse too. How do you break the morning anxiety loop?

cortisol is highest in the morning. I read that and felt less broken. still hate it though.

I also drink water first. no coffee until I have eaten. coffee on an empty stomach is a panic attack in a mug.

@paul_m same. I started keeping my phone out of the room. the second I check it I am done.

mornings are bad but I found that getting up right away helps. if I lie there it gets worse.

@ana_r yes. lying there is the trap. I have to move. even if it is just to the couch.

I put on a boring podcast before I even sit up. gives my brain something else to do.
