Can you heal from CPTSD on your own, without a therapist?
I still catch myself asking permission to call it trauma, which feels like part of the original wound. I don't even have a clean name for it. I just know it keeps running the day. I'm not trying to collect the worst story in the room. I'm trying to understand why my baseline is still braced. I keep finding essays that sound right and still don't change Tuesday morning. If you've been here, what actually helped — not what sounded wise, what helped.

Yes! I did. I took the helm. EMDR with a therapist wasn't providing what I needed. The key was learning to stay in my window of tolerance, understanding parts work, and reparenting myself. It was hard and took years.

Came here to say something similar and you said it better.

Going in circles is often the work, not proof that you're failing the work.

I still freeze. The difference is I can come back sooner, and I don't hate myself for it as much.

That last line landed. I'm going to sit with it.

You don't have to win an argument with your younger self about whether it 'counted.'

Saving this. I've been circling the same thought for months.
