Is BPD something you're born with or does it develop from trauma?
People talk about personality like it's a costume. For me it feels more like weather. I don't even have a clean name for it. I just know it keeps running the day. Stigma made me delay getting language for years. I'm done delaying. I figured if anyone would get it, it would be people here. Curious how other people live with this without turning it into their whole personality.

Both. There's a genetic predisposition, but trauma — especially in childhood — is almost always the trigger.

A label helped me get language. It didn't give me a personality transplant, and I needed both truths.

The research points to invalidating environments in genetically sensitive people.

Yeah. The body gets there before the story does.
