How do you talk to your GP about your mood without freezing once you sit down?
I have had the appointment in the diary for two weeks. I even wrote a list on a receipt: sleep is off, I am shorter with people, food is either nothing or cereal at 10pm. In the waiting room I felt organised. Then the door opened, I sat down, they asked what they could do for me, and my mind went blank like a school exam. I heard myself say I was a bit tired and then I nodded along while they talked about iron. I left with a leaflet and the list still in my pocket. I do not need a speech. I need to get the real sentences out before the ten minutes are gone. I freeze, then I shrink it, then I am angry on the bus home. If you got the words out, did you read from your phone, bring someone, or hand over the list? What did you actually say in the first line?

I read the first line off my phone. Felt rude. The GP did not care. I am here because my sleep is off and I am shorter with people was enough to stop the iron detour.

I handed them the receipt list. Literally. I said I freeze and this is the list. Ten minutes went on the actual things.

Did they ask follow-ups once you got one real sentence out, or did you have to keep steering back from iron?
