Why does getting in the shower feel like climbing a mountain some days?
I turned the shower on this morning, watched the steam fill the bathroom, then turned it off and sat on the closed toilet lid in yesterday's t-shirt. The towel on the back of the door has been there since Thursday. I am not filthy in some dramatic way. I just cannot make the next move: clothes off, water on, stand there, get out, dry off. It stacks into this wall. Last week I managed it because I had a dentist appointment and I did not want to sit in that chair feeling greasy. Today I have nowhere to be, so I skipped it. I used to shower every morning without thinking, the same way I used to flip the light switch. Now I bargain with myself until late afternoon and then the day is gone. I keep telling myself I am being lazy. Is anyone else getting stuck at this exact step?

Same thing last Tuesday. I got as far as the steam and then sat on the bathmat in my socks. I was not even deciding not to. I just stalled.

What helped me was putting a clean shirt on the radiator before I even turn the water on, so I do not have to pick clothes after. Sitting on the floor of the shower if standing feels like a whole project. Hair only counts.

Does it get worse when you have nowhere to be, like you said? I notice I only manage it on workdays and I do not know if that is better or worse.
