Why does see you later at the door feel like a test I did not study for?
He leaves for the gym around 7:10. He says see you later, kisses the side of my head, and I stand in the doorway like I missed a line. Do I say love you? Do I say have a good one? If I say too much I feel clingy. If I say too little I spend the hour he is gone replaying the doorway. Last night I went with 'okay' and then hated 'okay' until he came back smelling like the gym and asked what was wrong. Nothing was wrong. The goodbye was two seconds and I turned it into homework. I know this is the old stuff. It still sits in the hinges of the door. Anyone else freeze at the ordinary exit?

I have a default now. 'Love you, text if the class is packed.' Same every time. Boring on purpose so my brain cannot grade it.

See you later used to wreck me too. I started waving from the kitchen instead of the doorway so it is less of a scene.

Does the freeze happen when you leave too, or only when they go and you stay in the apartment?

I say the dorky thing. If he is in a rush he still hears it. The grading after is quieter.
