How do I sit with the urge to double-text without sending the second one?
I asked if he wanted to come to my sister's thing on Saturday. He said "let me see" at 3:12. At 3:41 I typed "no pressure either way!" and stared at it on the bus. At 4:05 I added a second draft: a joke, then a "or we can do something smaller." I have not sent them. I have opened the thread eleven times. The unsent ones feel like they're leaking out of me. If I send them I know I'll watch the timestamps like a hawk. If I don't send them I feel rude, like I left him with a demand. It's always the second text that turns me into a manager of his feelings. How do you ride out that specific itch — the double-text — without either exploding or going ice-cold?

3:12 "let me see" would have me drafting on the bus too. I leave the drafts in notes, not in the chat box. If I type in the chat I will send it at the next bump.

I send the first ask and then I mute the thread for two hours. I still check. Not eleven times.

"No pressure either way" is my classic second text and it never makes me feel better. Does he usually need a day on weekend plans or was 3:12 new?
