How do I date as an avoidant without disappearing for three days after?
I went out Thursday. It was actually fine — drinks at the place with the red booths, she laughed at my dumb story about my landlord. I walked her to the train. Then Friday I didn't text. Saturday I didn't text. Sunday I wrote and deleted four versions of "had a good time." It's not that I didn't like her. It's that after I like someone my brain starts treating the phone like a hot stove. I tell myself I'm being chill. I'm not chill. I'm hiding in my apartment watching a show I've already seen so I don't have to decide what to send. I don't want to be the guy who vanishes for three days and then shows up like nothing happened. I've lost people that way. How are you actually staying in contact after a date without forcing a personality you don't have?

Red booths then radio silence is so me. I set a calendar reminder for the next morning that just says "send one ordinary text." Not cute. Just "hope your Friday's okay."

I used to wait until I "felt like it" and that was never. Now I send something before I get home, even if it's lame. The three-day hole is what kills it, not a boring text.

What happens if you send something short on Friday and then go quiet till Monday? Is the disappearing the whole weekend or any contact at all?
