How do I ask for reassurance when I have an anxious attachment style?
I can explain my attachment style in a paragraph and still act it out like I've never heard of it. I don't even have a clean name for it. I just know it keeps running the day. Insight made me less surprised by myself. It didn't make me less raw. I keep finding essays that sound right and still don't change Tuesday morning. What would you tell someone who is tired of trying and still not ready to give up?

The goal isn't to get better at asking for reassurance — it's to gradually need it less. But while you do: be direct, specific, and brief. 'I'm feeling insecure. Can you tell me you care?'

The urge to 'get ahead of the abandonment' is so sneaky. Awareness helps; it doesn't erase it overnight.
