How do I stop my body from being in constant high alert?
It's the background hum that gets me — not one big panic, just never fully off. I don't even have a clean name for it. I just know it keeps running the day. I know the thought isn't dangerous. Knowing and feeling are on different delays. I figured if anyone would get it, it would be people here. I don't need a perfect answer. Even a small thing that made the next day easier would help.

Somatic exercises — shaking, cold exposure, breathwork — helped me more than anything cognitive.

Saving this. I've been circling the same thought for months.

Your nervous system learned to be on alert. It can unlearn it. Takes patience.

If you have a specific practice that helped, I'd love the unglamorous version.
